Neither is simply better. Pavers cope with moving ground and immediate use; concrete copes with heavy standing loads and large plain areas. The two surfaces fail in completely different ways, which is the most useful thing to understand about them. Concrete is one rigid piece: strong, continuous, and when the ground beneath moves enough, it cracks. Paving is many small pieces: individually weaker, collectively flexible, and it absorbs movement by shifting slightly.

What poured concrete does better
A poured slab gives you a continuous surface with no joints to fill, no weeds, and nothing to settle unevenly between units. It carries static load better, because a reinforced slab distributes weight across its whole area rather than into the bedding directly beneath. On a large, regular driveway it is usually cheaper per square metre, and decorative options — exposed aggregate, stamped patterns, colour — give plenty of visual range.
What pavers do better
The trade-offs are the seven-day wait before you can drive on it, repairs that stay visible, and the fact that accessing anything underneath means cutting the slab.
How to decide for your section
Pavers flex with ground movement instead of cracking, which on reactive clay is a real advantage rather than a marketing point. They are usable the moment jointing is done. A damaged unit lifts out and gets replaced for very little. If a service ever needs to run under the driveway, you lift, dig, and relay the same pavers.
